About IT Services 

IT Services at the University of Manchester is a vibrant and fast-moving department, we focus on delivering excellent customer service and quality services for our staff, students and researchers.

The Team  

The Switchboard is the primary contact for telephone calls to the University of Manchester and is therefore the front door to the University for callers. We provide excellent customer service ensuring that callers are put through to the members of staff who can best support their enquiries, whether they are looking to work with the university, work for the university or attend the university as a student.

The Role 

To answer incoming telephone calls from callers dialling the University of Manchester switchboard, and to connect incoming calls to appropriate extensions on the system and provide information to callers when this is not possible.

To keep any required records up to date and to share knowledge with the rest of the team.

The Person 

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • The ability to deliver great customer service, understanding the callers request and handling it efficiently and effectively.
  • To be able to communicate over the phone in a clear and professional manner, making a good first impression of the university to callers.
  • Working effectively as part of a team to deliver a first class service for the university.
