We have 2 exciting new opportunities for Trainee Building Surveyor (Degree Apprenticeship Programme) within our Facilities Maintenance and Compliance Team.  The role will assist the Building Surveying team  to manage various client side functions covering the full range of Professional Building Surveying duties, to include the overseeing of architectural/ building standards for the University Estate including space standards, component and materials standardisation and fire safety.  To assist in the development of individual conservation plans for listed buildings, the 10 year long maintenance plan and to provide all professional Building Surveying advice as requested.

During your apprenticeship, you will:

  • Attend study with an appropriate provider to gain the designated apprenticeship.
  • Spend at least 20% of your time ‘off the job’ learning and developing Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours.
  • Participate in all UoM apprentice network events and skills competitions.
  • Log and record all work activities and training making these available for review during 1:1’s.
  • Be supported by a series of experienced members of staff.

As an ideal candidate you will have:-

  • A level qualification to 104 UCAS points or equivalent BTEC Surveying/Construction related OND/C.
  • Looking to undertake an honors degree in Building Surveying or closely related construction related discipline and to work towards professional chartered status of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
  • Demonstrate a positive commitment to personal training and development including continuous professional development (CPD).
  • Undertake AutoCAD training.
