The successful candidate will be expected to start by early May 2026.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Radio 4’s Consumer Team is looking for talented Content Producers to create compelling content across radio, podcast, and digital platforms.

Airing live on BBC Radio 4, and on BBC Sounds, our programmes and podcasts offer real voices and perspectives through a rich mix of topical conversations – all centred on people’s experiences.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM

We are here to educate and inform, giving people the tools to help themselves when they find they are in trouble. We have a wide range of presenters with vast knowledge and experience in their chosen fields… what we need is the creative, self-driven team to make the output shine and reach as many as possible in as many formats as possible.
You could be working on Sliced Bread, You and Yours, Toast or Dough – but each come with the same commitment to quality and expertise.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Produce individual items, series, or entire programmes from concept to broadcast.
  • Output the live programme with editorial support.
  • Generate and pitch original ideas for radio and digital platforms.
  • Create engaging digital content for social media and BBC Sounds.
  • Collaborate with presenters, editors, and contributors to deliver high-quality output.
  • React swiftly and editorially to breaking news and topical events.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Demonstrate strong journalistic skills, with the ability to write clearly and simplify complex topics.
  • Show sound editorial judgement and confidence in decision-making, particularly under live broadcast pressure.
  • Experience working on live radio or in a studio environment, familiarity with BBC editorial guidelines and production systems, with the ability to embrace new technologies and tools to enhance storytelling and production.
  • Have experience producing standout radio, social, and digital content that makes an impact both inside and outside the BBC and broadens reach, bringing a wealth of creative ideas and the ability to turn them into engaging, compelling content.
  • Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and react positively to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

If you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we’d love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.
