Join us as our Term Lending Lead

 

The C&I Chief Operating Office (COO) works across all Commercial & Institutional (C&I) business areas in our business, bringing together the teams that are focused on supporting our customers’ evolving needs and helping them to achieve their dreams. Up to a quarter of our 1.3 million commercial customers borrow from us, helping to support businesses turn their possibilities into progress.

 

Our C&I COO is responsible for the franchise’s transformation programmes, capital and investment prioritisation, as well as Digital, Data, AI, Operations, and Product Management pillars, including Transaction Services and Lending Products. The Lending Product pillar is responsible for the full range of lending products across Term Lending, Overdrafts, Asset Finance and Invoice Finance, as Term Lending Lead you’ll be accountable for those Term products.

 

Our aim is to be the #1 provider of finance for UK business through understanding and supporting customers’ ambitions.

 

As term lending lead you’ll

 

  • Set the vision for multiple product families as you define strategy, portfolio‑of‑portfolios roadmaps, and the change/run mix so plans stay aligned to client needs and business priorities
  • You’ll orchestrate end‑to‑end product journeys across term lending and overdrafts, turning insights into deliverable improvements that raise adoption, experience, and commercial outcomes
  • You’ll lead at enterprise scale, shaping cross‑family strategy, direct area‑level investment and capacity, and build reusable patterns that amplify impact across the bank

What you’ll do

Be the area leader who turns strategy into scaled delivery. You’ll set direction across multiple product families, shape a portfolio-of-portfolios roadmap, and make prioritisation decisions that balance run and change across interdependent teams for our customers.

 

You’ll translate customer insights, market trends and technology shifts into a coherent programme of initiatives, while setting the risk appetite and controls that support adoption, profitability and fair outcomes.

 

Your work will focus on:

 

  • Defining and managing the end-to-end product lifecycle across families, from ideation through delivery, pricing, monitoring and retirement, to drive consistent execution and measurable outcomes
  • Driving the cross-family innovation pipeline by converting customer insights, market movements and technology shifts into deliverable initiatives and shared capabilities
  • Taking accountability for change and transformation within and across product families by sequencing work, resolving dependencies and accelerating time-to-value through partnerships with Transformation, CDIO and Digital
  • Owning area-level economics, lending data, optimising pricing, revenue, adoption, cost-to-serve and delivery efficiency across the product area, as well as taking ownership of the product data
  • Partnering with the pricing centre of excellence, growth office and other stakeholders involved in prioritisation to set clear priorities, funding decisions and capacity allocations
  • Setting risk appetite across product families and maintaining compliance with risk, regulatory and operational standards, establishing a consistent controls posture across the area
  • Promoting best practice and a culture of collaborative teaming and continuous improvement, codifying patterns that can scale across product families
  • Leading the Agency Banking team, a critical part of term lending’s product offering

 

The skills you’ll need

 

You’ll bring deep product management expertise and journey design, paired with commercial acumen to manage pricing and profitability levers across an area. Your collaborative leadership will span Ops, Risk, and Group partners, turning insights into decisions that scale across product families and stand up to regulatory scrutiny.

 

This role calls for a product leader who can hold the big picture and the detail at the same time, balancing customer value, commercial performance and regulatory responsibility across a complex product area. You’ll bring deep product management and journey design expertise, paired with strong commercial judgement to shape pricing, profitability and adoption at scale.

 

Working closely with the customer franchises, you’ll turn insight into decisions that deliver measurable outcomes.

 

To do that well, you’ll need:

 

  • Extensive knowledge of term lending and overdraft products, including risk considerations
  • Deep expertise in product management and end-to-end customer journey design across complex product environments
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to manage pricing and profitability levers and optimise area economics across revenue, adoption and cost-to-serve
  • A customer-centric mindset, translating customer insight and market signals into clear priorities and fundable initiatives
  • A proven track record of leading product development, innovation and transformation delivery at scale, using appropriate delivery approaches
  • Exceptional stakeholder leadership across Ops, Risk and Group partners, setting the operating cadence, resolving trade-offs and building communities of practice
