Lecturer in Midwifery

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative midwife educator to join our dynamic and highly respected team. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality, research-led midwifery education across our pre-registration programmes, with a particular focus on:

• the delivery, development and evaluation of teaching within the Bachelor of Midwifery (Hons) and Master of Midwifery;
• supporting students to develop professional, educational and clinical competence;
• contributing to an engaging student experience through inclusive, evidence-informed teaching and assessment.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the education and development of future midwives within a supportive academic environment, while helping to strengthen innovative teaching, clinical skills development and simulation-based learning across our programmes.

There are two positions available:

1 x full time permanent role

1 x part-time (17.5 hours per week) fixed term role for 36 months

You will be responsible for:

• Developing and delivering high-quality teaching and learning activities across the undergraduate midwifery programmes.
• Designing, reviewing and enhancing learning materials to ensure curricula remain contemporary, evidence-based and professionally relevant
• Delivering teaching in classroom, online, simulation and practice-focused learning environments
• Assessing student work and providing timely, constructive and inclusive feedback that supports student success.
• Collaborating with practice partners, professional bodies and external stakeholders to strengthen educational provision and workforce development.

About You

Essential Criteria

• Current Registration as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
• Relevant first degree.
• Master’s degree or near completion of a relevant Master’s qualification.
• Current or recent experience in midwifery practice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Criteria

• Experience teaching on undergraduate and/or postgraduate healthcare programmes.
• Experience of curriculum development, assessment design or programme leadership.
• Teaching qualification or Fellowship of Advance HE.
• Relevant PhD or doctoral qualification.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
