The Defence Materials Centre of Excellence (DMEx) is expanding as our programme continues to accelerate. We are excited to be recruiting an Information Officer to join our growing team, supporting the next phase of development and maturity of this major Dstl-funded national research centre. This new post forms part of the continued development of DMEx’s operational capability as the Centre grows in scale, complexity, and ambition. As our partnerships and research activities expand, we are strengthening our approach to information governance, security compliance, assurance, and operational reporting to support the delivery of sensitive defence-related research programmes. DMEx brings together world-leading researchers, specialist engineers, defence stakeholders, and professional services experts from across academia, government, and industry. Operating within a unique and evolving defence research environment, the Centre requires robust governance, secure ways of working, and effective management of information and data. This role offers an exciting opportunity to help shape and support those arrangements within a dynamic and high-impact organisation.

As the DMEx Information Officer, you will provide operational support across information governance, data assurance, security compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement activities. You will work closely with the Operations Manager, Information Governance specialists, Professional Services colleagues, and external partners to ensure that appropriate controls, processes, and assurance mechanisms are embedded across the Centre’s activities.

Typical responsibilities will include maintaining compliance and assurance records, supporting audits and investigations, coordinating governance reporting, monitoring access controls and permissions, supporting information governance activities, maintaining data quality across operational systems, and contributing to the development of processes, guidance, and reporting dashboards. You will also play an important role in promoting a culture of secure and responsible information management across DMEx.

Based at the Royce Institute with hybrid working (typically two days onsite), you will join a supportive, collaborative, and fast-paced team that is genuinely enthusiastic about delivering world-class research and innovation in support of UK defence and security objectives.

Successful candidates may be required to undertake BPSS and potentially Security Clearance. Due to the nature of this clearance, candidates must have sole UK nationality. DMEx has an ethnically diverse team of UK nationals.

What you will get in return:

  • Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
  • Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
