CONTRACT TYPE:  Fixed-term / Attachment, Full-time (6-months)
DEPARTMENT:  BBC Radio 3
LOCATION: Flexible (Salford or London)
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE:  £40,200 – £58,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Join the dynamic network team at the heart of BBC Radio 3: the 2025 UK Station of the Year, and the home of classical music at the BBC. As Station Sound Producer you’ll manage and deliver trails and promotions, liaise with teams at BBC Creative, Marketing and BBC Sounds, and contribute to the ongoing development of the sound of the network. It requires strong production skills, a creative approach, and an instinctive understating of our audience and ambitions.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Liaise with Network Commissioning Executive on promotional strategy for Radio 3 across the year.
  • Produce weekly allocation of Radio 3 Trails (scripting, voiceover recording, editing, mixing, music clearance and logging) to the to the highest creative, editorial and technical standards, in line with BBC Editorial Guidelines, compliance, and risk policies.
  • Plan and communicate Network and Marketing trails, working with Media Planning, BBC Creative and Radio 3/Radio 3 Unwind Stakeholders.
  • Manage and deliver the Network Priorities Noticeboard which communicates Radio 3 and Pan BBC highlights and promotional strategy to production teams.
  • Manage Station Sound Imaging on BBC Radio 3 Unwind, working with the Commissioning Executive to ensure schedule changes are reflected, creating new assets when required.
  • Create idents and imaging assets for Radio 3 specials and seasons.
  • Plan and allocate Post Roll Podcast trails to suppliers with relevant music logging.

 

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Excellent recording, mixing and editing skills and a working knowledge of Dira software.
  • Proven high quality audio production experience.
  • Familiarity with classical music and a good understanding of the network and its audience.
  • A demonstrable creative approach to making content that makes audiences sit up and listen.
  • Experience of working in multi stakeholder projects.
