£26,500 – £30,500 plus benefits (Work Level 6B)
Manchester city centre, in this role you’ll work in a hybrid way splitting your time between home and the office

We’re looking for an Asbestos Compliance Coordinator to join our Compliance team and help us make sure that our Co-op is fully compliant with asbestos regulations across our food, funeralcare, logistics and corporate estate areas.

In this role you’ll act as the bridge between Co-op and the asbestos consultants that we partner with, making sure we have the best possible relationship with them. We’ll look to you to make sure that surveys, analytical monitoring, and remedial works are being undertaken across the estate in a compliant way, and that the consultants are delivering against key business objectives. This is a fantastic opportunity to build a rewarding career whilst making a real difference to the safety of our colleagues across the business.

What you’ll do

•    Manage relationships with key suppliers, making sure that key service levels agreements are being met
•    Take part in regular asbestos working groups, providing valuable insight and sharing your knowledge with colleagues
•    Manage and support compliance in a dedicated part of our estate
•    Coordinate and manage the asbestos consultant activity and performance
•    Deal effectively and efficiently with unforeseen circumstances when they arise
•    Collaborate with a wide range of internal colleagues and external partners, building meaningful relationships
•    Monitor supply chain performance and programme delivery, spotting opportunities to improve processes and drive efficiencies

This role would suit people who have

•    Experience of working within an asbestos consultancy or asbestos compliance role
•    In-depth knowledge of asbestos compliance management, and familiarity with a compliance management system (such as Verisae or Compliance 365)
•    A BOHS P405 qualification, or a desire to work towards this
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the confidence to manage difficult conversations
•    The ability to build positive relationships with and influence people at different levels across the business
•    Excellent Microsoft Excel skills including the ability to use Pivot table and VLOOKUPS

Why Co-op?

If you have the skills that we need, we can offer you a competitive salary and great benefits package which includes 30% off Co-op branded products in our food stores (as well as other discounts on Co-op products and services).

•    An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance)
•    28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
•    A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
•    Private healthcare for you
•    Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ)
•    Coaching and training to support your career development
•    Wagestream app – giving you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn

At Co-op, we’re proud to do things a different way. As one of the world’s largest co-operatives, owned by millions of members, community is at the heart of what we do. Since our Co-op was founded in 1844, we’ve had a clear social purpose, and everything we do as a business helps to build a fairer world for our members, customers, colleagues, and communities.
