The role

As Baggage System Shift Supervisor you’ll proactively assist in the management and delivery of the safe and efficient operation of baggage facilities at Manchester Airport, ensuring that baggage facilities meet specified levels of performance. You’ll be part of the team who manage Baggage Operations, providing direction to Baggage System Operatives and Engineering Technicians to deal with any system blockages or other issues. You’ll liaise proactively with internal stakeholders and Ground Handling Agents ensuring the most efficient and effective operation across the 3 distinct baggage systems. You’ll also ensure that the development of baggage facilities is consistent with airport growth and escalate any issues requiring technical intervention from either the in house Engineering Technicians or any 3rd party support.

What will make you successful in the role?

We are looking for someone with experience within an operational baggage system role in a major international airport setting at supervisory or management level. You’ll be experienced in managing people and budgets, with strong communication and influencing skills as you’ll need to motivate multidisciplinary networks to work towards a common goal. You’ll also need to be able to manage change in a busy operational environment.
