The role
As Finance Manager, you will play a leading role in driving the monthly close of the management accounts, including ownership and distribution of the month end timetable, recording of all transactions during the month, reviews of the numbers with the business prior to finalisation, and then the reporting of month end numbers through Divisional P&Ls and Divisional Balance Sheets with commentary.
You will also be responsible for ensuring full compliance with the external audit at the half year & and full year, ensuring a clean audit with no surprises.
The Finance Manager will in addition, play a critical role in ensuring a consistent and reliable service is provided to the business, delivered by a large team that has heavy task and deadline focus, and a range of internal competencies ranging from part qualified to experienced, fully qualified accountants that require a mix of regular coaching, training, and mentoring.
Key accountabilites will include
- Responsible for updating, distributing and driving the month end timetable on a monthly basis to enable a smooth month end close.
- Ensure full compliance with MAG management and statutory reporting requirements and deadlines, and MAG accounting policies.
- Perform monthly reviews for their own individual business unit, to receive and act on feedback arising from the month end close process.
What will make you successful in the role?
To be successful in this role, you will need to be qualified in ACA / ACCA / CIMA. You must have line management experience, and in addition the ability to build alliances, challenge and influence positively across the business. You will need a strong background in driving the closing of monthly management accounts, for multiple business units, some of which will be geographically disparate. Ideally we would like someone who is a proficient user of SAP, to enable them to walk through issues and retireve data with both the team and the auditors. Finally this role requires the ability to prioritise efficiently, manage workload and be proactive in seeking improvements to the processes with a core focus on optimisation and delivery.
