The Role

The role provides visible leadership and a strong strategic vision for all Health, Safety, Fire and Resilience (HSFR) matters, ensuring alignment with MAG’s overall mission and objectives. It is responsible for developing and implementing Group wide HSFR strategies, policies, frameworks and standards that position MAG as an industry leader, while also ensuring effective governance, performance reporting and second line assurance on key operational risks.

In addition, the role sets and drives MAG’s HSFR culture, embedding it across the Group and among organisations operating at our airports. It builds capability and organisational effectiveness to support continuous improvement and sector leading performance, while acting as a trusted adviser to the CEO and ExCo to ensure HSFR strategies are delivered and MAG’s reputation is protected and enhanced.

What will make you successful in this role?

You’ll demonstrate a strong track record of delivering HSFR strategies and performance across multiple sectors, combined with the ability to inspire and embed a high performance HSFR culture. You’ll be a credible and high profile advocate for HSFR, respected at every level of the organisation including Board and ExCo, and an accomplished presenter with an established industry reputation and network.

You must have significant experience developing effective Safety Management Systems and Business Continuity Management Systems within complex environments, as well as the ability to lead HSFR professionals operating within a Group and business unit matrix structure.

You’ll also have a proven background in advising and supporting senior leaders up to Chief Executive level, working effectively across multi functional teams, and demonstrating strong negotiation and influencing skills. Chartered IOSH membership in a senior role is essential, alongside a solid understanding of the financial impacts of Health, Safety, Fire and Business Resilience. A tertiary level qualification – such as an MSc or MBA – is preferred.

Equal Opportunities & Reasonable Adjustments

We’re building something brilliant at MAG: a diverse team of Journey Makers who share our values and want to make a difference. We’re on a mission to be number one in our industry, and that takes talent in all its forms. With so many exciting roles across our airports and businesses, there’s space for your unique strengths to shine.

Whether this is your first role or your next big step, we want to hear from you – even if you don’t think you tick every box. What matters most is what you bring.

We’re proud to be a Disability Confident employer. If you need any adjustments to support your application or interview, just let us know. We’re committed to helping you perform at your best.

At MAG, every journey matters. Our Colleague Communities play a big part in that: Women’s Network, Embrace (Race & Ethnicity), Fly with Pride (LGBTQIA+), Mind Matters (Mental Health), PACT (Parents & Carers), RespectABILITY (Disability & Neurodiversity), and the CAVU Global ID&E Affinity Group.
