The role

As an IR People Partner, you’ll be a trusted advisor, building strong relationships with Trade Unions and leaders to create a positive and collaborative working environment. You’ll provide expert guidance on industrial relations, support organisational change and help resolve complex workforce matters with confidence and credibility.

You’ll play a key role in shaping our industrial relations approach, leading Trade Union engagement, supporting consultation activity, and ensuring our people practices are fair, consistent and aligned with employment legislation and business priorities.

What will make you successful in this role

  • Proven experience building and managing effective Trade Union relationships within a unionised environment
  • Strong consultation and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and deliver positive outcomes
  • A track record of resolving complex industrial relations issues with confidence and pragmatism
  • Experience working in a large, multi-site organisation, providing expert HR and industrial relations support
  • Strong knowledge of employment policies, terms and conditions, and their practical application
  • Excellent understanding of UK employment legislation, including the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act and the Employment Rights Act
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make balanced, evidence-based decisions
  • Experience advising and coaching managers on a wide range of HR and employee relations matters
  • CIPD Level 5/7 qualified (or equivalent experience)
