Job summary

We are excited to offer the opportunity for an administrative assistant to join our Learning Disability and Autism admin team.

The post-holder will join the team on a fixed term basis for one year to provide administrative and secretarial support to neuro-developmental assessment pathways.

The postholder will provide support with managing large datasets, updating the electronic patient records, sending out letters and dealing with queries.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will provide admin and secretarial support to the NeuroDevelopmental (ND)specialist team as part of the development ofservicestosupport neuro-divergent children and young people across Manchester.

The post holder will support with admin linked to new triage processes, updating and quality checking electronic patient records. They will join the wider Learning Disability and Autism (LDA) admin team.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

As part of our commitment to safeguarding patients and staff, many roles at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. This is a standard process across the NHS and helps us ensure a safe environment for everyone.

Who Needs a DBS Check

Most roles involving direct patient contact, working with children or vulnerable adults, or access to sensitive information will require a DBS check. The job advert and recruitment team will let you know if this applies to your role.

The Costs for a DBS

At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. This means that the cost of submitting and processing a DBS application if you are successful and join us, will be deducted from your salary within the first three months of employment. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Education to GCSE level, NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent.
  • RSA Typing level II or equivalent qualification or relevant experience.

Desirable

  • ECDL qualification.

Experience

Essential

  • Proven administrative/secretarial experience.
  • Experience of working in a busy administrative environment.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to prioritise workload.

Desirable

  • NHS/Health administrative/secretarial experience.
  • Experience of using electronic patient records

Knowledge, skills and ability

Essential

  • PC skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software including Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to deal with enquiries in a polite and diplomatic manner.
  • Ability and commitment to work as a member of a busy team.
