Join us as a Business Development Manager

  • We’ll look to you to drive business development activities across the SME landscape
  • You’ll build and maintain strong relationships with business leaders, business partners, and other related organisations to seek new opportunities
  • This is a great opportunity to be involved in a new team and proposition and have the ability to help shape future strategy while developing your skills, knowledge, and network

What you’ll do

As a Business Development Manager, you’ll monitor and analyse the marketplace and participate in sales strategies to generate solutions for customers while building your internal and external network. In doing so, you’ll meet customer needs and assist the business in achieving our lending commitment while ensuring business goals are met in a manner consistent with our values.

You’ll effectively handle initial enquiries through your network of professionals and market partners, and facilitate an introduction to the relevant banking team to ensure a great customer outcome. You’ll also handle concerns and complaints at first point of contact, ensuring the delivery of good customer outcomes at every interaction, and you’ll formulate and drive a business plan to achieve all KPI’s.

As well as this, you’ll:

  • Understand and adhere to the relevant laws, conflicts of interest, and the anti-money laundering guidelines
  • Complete all control tasks in a timely manner to the required standard
  • Operate within the training and competence scheme, ensuring the provision of accurate, full, and relevant information to customers
  • Respond and adapt to shifting priorities and deliver an effective performance within challenging timelines
  • Liaise with colleagues to share best practice and to flex capacity between teams as required
  • Build a strong internal and external network of stakeholders and proactively promote a culture where risk is managed effectively within the business

The skills you’ll need

We’re looking for someone with an understanding of the SME banking market, experience of relationship management in the business, an awareness of risk requirements, both internally and externally, and experience of meeting and exceeding customer needs. You’ll hold the Diploma in Lending Skills Professional Qualification, or equivalent, or be willing to study for and complete one within 18 months.

Along with the ability to build a professional network internally across business segments, you’ll have experience in an environment of learning on a weekly basis with a focused coaching plan.

You’ll also demonstrate:

  • Experience of delivering presentations to customers
  • Effective relationship management, diary management, and time management skills
  • Knowledge of technology platforms
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills and the ability to network effectively
