Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to join our busy Estates Team as an Estates Officer (Capital & Minor Works). We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will support the Estates Management team in the delivery of minor works and capital schemes.

Working with and in support of the Estates Helpdesk you will provide professional and technical assistance as appropriate.

Day to day responsibility will include the planning, management of and delivery of minor estates schemes/projects along with the co-ordination and management of reactive repairs and quotable works resulting from call outs.

The postholder will be confident in liaising with multi-disciplinary teams and professions such as key staff, contractors, suppliers and specialist consultants and be familiar with compliance, risk assessments and health & safety standards.

The postholder will have suitable experience of working within a challenging environment and have HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Construction, Buildings, or Building services, as well as experience in Construction management & project delivery with knowledge in Construction Design and Management regulations (CDM).

 

Main duties of the job

This demanding role requires someone with the determination to succeed in delivering key objectives to meet departmental objectives and Trust requirements.

The role involves travel across all Trust sites.

The main duties of the role are:

Supporting the Estates Management Team (Capital/Strategic) in the effective planning and delivery of strategic capital projects including minor works and planned refurbishment works across the NWAS estate both revenue and capital funded.

To provide effective support to the Estates department and wider organisation in order to ensure the reliability and efficiency of building structure, fabric, finishes equipment and services.

Plan delegated minor estates schemes/projects as a result of reactive and planned works, including design options, health and safety legislation, risks and issues arising from the project.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Essential

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level in an appropriate Estates discipline (or similar qualification), or demonstrable experience of working within an estates / building services environment
  • HNC/HND/ in Construction, Buildings, or Building services
  • Level 3 Construction and the Built Environment (or equivalent)
  • Valid driving licence for use in the UK and access to a vehicle for work use OR ability to travel between sites using other means within reasonable timescales.

Experience

Essential

  • Good understanding of the construction methods, details, materials and services.
  • Good understanding of RIBA Plan of Works
  • Ability to apply knowledge and experience of Social Value in construction projects
  • Ability to apply knowledge of environment and sustainability requirements in the built environment
  • The ability to apply knowledge of health and safety as it is applicable to the job role
