Job description

Area: Rochdale, Greater Manchester
Start Date:

Contract Type: Full-time
Salary: 
£525 – £700 per week (dependent on experience and responsibilities)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm

A specialist post-16 provision in Rochdale is looking for a Teaching Assistant to support students aged 16-19 with complex learning needs. The role focuses on communication, social interaction, and life skills, using a person-centred approach as students prepare for greater independence.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to post-16 learners
  • Support communication, social interaction, and daily living skills
  • Contribute to person-centred planning and EHCP targets
  • Help create a calm, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
  • Work closely with staff, families, and external agencies

Post-16 Teaching Assistant – What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with young people with SEND, ideally in a school, residential, or community setting. A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to managing behaviour
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A commitment to helping pupils achieve independence and life success.
  • A relevant qualification in support, care, or education is desirable but not essential

Post-16 Teaching Assistant – To Be Eligible You Must:

  • Hold the Right to Work in the UK
  • Have an enhanced child barred list DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply)
  • Be able to provide two professional references (child-related preferred)
