Do you have experience of working in a busy retail or hospitality role?

  • Are you looking for a new challenge?
  • Have you ever thought about working in a library?

Maybe the thought of working in a library hasn’t occurred to you before, but if you are an outgoing team player who loves working with people, providing a friendly welcome and excellent customer service, then our Customer Services Team at The University of Manchester Library could be the opportunity for you!

We work in a proactive, fast paced customer focussed environment, providing a front-line service across several different library sites.

This role involves:

  • Managing customer enquiries through our online chat service
  • Interacting with customers at our helpdesks
  • Supporting with library induction tours
  • Helping people to find spaces to work and locate items in our collections

We’re looking for people who are knowledgeable and confident in using digital applications, who are strong interpersonal communicators with excellent written and presentation skills to take on the role of Customer Services Advisor. The role is 35 hours a week, working a shift pattern.

Interested?

We are holding an Open Day on Tuesday 3rd September 2024 from 11am-4pm in The University of Manchester Main Library. There is no need to book, just come along at any time during the advertised hours and find out more about the role, meet the team and ask any questions you may have.

The location of the Main Library can be found here. The Main Library is number 55 on the campus map.

Don’t worry if you are not able to come along, we are also holding online introductory sessions on Thursday 5th September 2024 at 11am-12pm and 2pm-3pm.

Please note, under the new immigration rules this role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route of the Points Based System.  Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK in order to be eligible to take up the post.

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status.  All appointments are made on merit.
