This part-time Graduate Teaching Assistant Studentship presents an exciting opportunity for a successful candidate to acquire skills across research and teaching – both of which are central components to the academic career path. The successful candidate will pursue a PhD in Developmental Psychology while contributing to teaching and assessment on the BSc Psychology degree. Further details about the programme can be found at:

https://www.manchester.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/courses/2025/00653/bsc-psychology/

Working closely with teaching-focused lecturers, the successful candidate will contribute across a wide range of Psychology course units. Line management for the teaching post will be provided through the Division of Psychology and Mental Health, and the specific teaching responsibilities of the person appointed will be allocated in consultation with the BSc Psychology Programme Director, Doron Cohen.

A contract and continued employment in this position will be dependent on the successful candidate enrolling on a part-time PhD. At the point of PhD completion, (or if the PhD is discontinued for any reason), employment as a Teaching Assistant will be terminated.

PhD supervision will be provided from within the Division of Psychology, Communication and Human Neuroscience, one of two Divisions contributing to the BSc Psychology programme. A Faculty-funded fee remittance for part-time PhD study will be available (for as long as the Teaching Assistant role is held).

What you will get in return:

  • Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
  • Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status.  All appointments are made on merit.
