About this Role

The Whitworth Art Gallery is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join its catering team as Hospitality Services Assistant.

We wish to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic individual to assist with daytime and evening hospitality across the gallery. The post holder will carry out hospitality services across the Whitworth Art Gallery (including café and restaurant service within the café area, as well working on weddings, events and hospitality), providing a warm and friendly service in support of the Gallery visitor experience.

The post holder should have demonstrable knowledge, experience and awareness of customer service in a similar environment, along with a basic understanding of Health and safety and food safety in a café environment. Barista skills and previous knowledge of a busy café service would be beneficial, and a naturally positive attitude towards a busy/pressurised environment is essential to this role.

This role is a great opportunity to work with a great team in an exciting venue!

This is a part-time (20 hours a week) vacancy, working on a rota basis across the full 7-days of the week. With the busiest days for the gallery being at weekends, successful candidates will be expected to work weekend shifts. The business potentially operates Monday to Sunday (7 days a week), with both daytime and evening work.

University Catering

The catering at The Whitworth Art Gallery will be operated by the University’s catering team, which encompasses a broad and diverse range of business areas – including retail outlets, catered halls, student bars, conferencing, events and hospitality.

With such a varied range of business across the week, the department is always a buzz of activity – no two days are ever the same. The business operates 7-days a week, accommodating events and hospitality both daytime and evenings across the week, including weekends.

There are many benefits to working at the University:

  • 34 days holiday, including Christmas and New Year
  • Generous pension scheme with generous employer contribution
  • A strong commitment to personal and career development, as well as well-being and mental health.
  • Annual salary review
