The Team
The delivery of continual innovation requires change, and the Service Design and Transition team ensures that change is of a quality that meets the expectations of our customers – staff, students and the general public.
The Service Design & Transition team own the Service Design and Transition processes and continually adjust and develop the processes to meet the challenges of project delivery via waterfall and agile methodologies.
No two projects are the same and the wide variety of projects the Service Design and Transition team work with are exemplary of the groundbreaking developments found in one of the world’s leading universities, the projects expand our experience and knowledge of a far-reaching range of topics, from geospatial mapping to quantum computing and AI.
The Role
The Service Design and Transition team lead all the service design and service transition activities across a large portfolio of University projects. They provide assurance that all new or changed products and services meet operational standards, are operationally fit for purpose and can be maintained by the support teams and partners before they are released into the live estate.
The Service Design and Transition Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring that new and changed services are consistently designed and transitioned in line with the UoM IT Services Strategy, and that they meet current and future customer requirements. The role holder will coordinate all service design and transition activities working closely with project teams, colleagues in other IT teams and other key stakeholders from across the University to capture the production service design and service transition requirements. They will ensure that these requirements are understood, considered and addressed within the project lifecycle through service design packages and the attainment of agreed service transition and operational readiness criteria.
What we look for
Professional Experience: Experience of working in a service design and transition function within a large and complex organisation or a similar area within an IT or project delivery environment.
People Skills: Experience of engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders with the ability to clearly articulate risks and corresponding controls to support decision.
Planning Skills: Methods and techniques associated with planning and monitoring progress of projects.
Service Level Agreement Experience: Understand the purpose and composition of a service level agreement (SLA); the relationship between an SLA, an OLA (Operational Level Agreement) and an underpinning contract for the supply of services.
Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the IT/IS infrastructure and the IT applications and service processes used within own organisation, including those associated with sustainability and efficiency.
