Are you looking to kick-start a career in finance while gaining a fully funded finance qualification? At TfGM, we’re offering an exciting opportunity to join our Finance team as an Apprentice Accounting & Finance Manager. Over a four-year programme, you’ll study towards a degree while gaining hands-on experience across a range of financial functions. You’ll develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to support financial strategy within a large, complex public sector organisation that plays a vital role in connecting people and places across Greater Manchester.

Your Role

As a Accounting & Finance Apprentice, you’ll rotate across different areas of Finance, building a broad understanding of how financial services support organisational success. You’ll contribute to activities such as budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, business case development and data analysis. Alongside your studies, you’ll work closely with colleagues across TfGM, developing strong business partnering and communication skills. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience while applying your academic learning in a real-world environment.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who is motivated to learn and develop a career in finance. You’ll bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and work both independently and as part of a team. You’ll be organised, able to manage your time effectively, and confident using IT tools such as ERP system, Excel and Word. Most importantly, you’ll have a genuine commitment to your own development and enthusiasm to learn in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

What we can offer you

This is a 4 year apprentice fixed term contract with a starting salary of £29,836 per annum.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain a fully funded degree while developing valuable on-the-job experience within a large public sector organisation. You’ll benefit from structured placements across Finance, exposure to senior stakeholders, and mentoring and development support throughout your apprenticeship. On completion of the programme, you’ll also have the opportunity to progress towards a professional accounting qualification with CIMA.
