Manchester city centre – hybrid working, in this role you’ll split your time between home working, and coming into the office 2-3 times a week (find out more about our hybrid working policy at https://jobs.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy).

We’re looking for a confident and forward thinking leader to join us as a Promotional Planning Lead. This role will be critical in shaping change across our promotions team over the next 6 to 24 months. If you’re passionate about leading people, improving processes, and creating customer led promotional strategies that deliver results, this could be the role for you.

Why this role matters

Our customers expect fair value and relevant offers, and we want to be closer to what they really need. This role sits at the heart of our customer function, leading the shift towards a customer led trade and seasonal plan. You’ll guide your team to build and deliver a promotional plan that drives increased transactions, strengthens value perception, and improves commercial performance. At the same time, you’ll create an environment where colleagues can thrive, deliver great work, and contribute to profitable year on year growth.

What you’ll do

• Lead a team of four Promotional Planners, making sure that promotions are customer focused, space is aligned to demand and sales patterns, and the promotional plan delivers profitable year on year growth
• Drive continuous improvement across the end to end promotional process, streamlining workflows and making the best use of available technology
• Prepare the team and processes for the introduction of SAP promotional planning tool
• Lead cross functional engagement on process improvements alongside the Commercial Change team, making sure changes are properly tested, understood, and embedded before launch
• Transform how we plan and optimise promotional space, making sure layouts for different store formats and seasonal events drive both customer appeal and commercial return
• Play a key role in improving promotional return on investment, reducing risk and unlocking additional profitable sales.

What you’ll bring

• Experience leading teams through promotional or trading change
• Strong people leadership skills with the ability to set direction, inspire confidence, and enable success
• Proven experience driving process improvement and implementing change
• Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to link promotional strategy to customer outcomes and business performance.

Why Co-op?

At Co-op, we’re owned by our members. And because we’re owned by you, we can do right by you. So when you join us, you’re not just taking a job, you’re joining a movement. We’re an organisation that puts people and communities first, and we’re powered by purpose. We want this to be a place where you can thrive, so you’ll also receive:

• An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance)
• 28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
• Private healthcare
• A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
• Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ)
• Coaching and training to support your career development
• Wagestream app – giving you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn
