About the role:
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer (0.4 FTE) in History to join our dynamic and collegial teaching team in the Department of History, Politics and Philosophy for a one-year period. This fixed-term post will support the delivery of world-class undergraduate and postgraduate education.

The focus of this role is to  deliver teaching on American history modules at Level 6 and Level 7. A specialism in women’s history would be an advantage.  The successful candidate will also provide support on other teaching at  undergraduate level. We strive to support our students in becoming confident in their positions and able to theoretically contextualize their arguments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver teaching on American history modules  at undergraduate and taught-postgraduate level
  • Contribute to team-taught modules and other areas of teaching across the History curriculum as required.
  • Engage students in critical, inclusive and theoretically rich learning experiences.
  • Support student learning, assessment and academic development, including acting as a personal tutor.

About you:

You will:

  • hold (or be near completion of) a PhD in History or a related discipline.
  • have experience of teaching in higher education and a strong commitment to inclusive and reflective pedagogical practices.
  • be a collegial team member, committed to student success and engaged scholarship.
