At Manchester United, we believe that excellence on the pitch starts with excellence off the pitch. Our team thrives in a high-performance environment, united by a shared passion for success. We aim to elevate the standard of performance through collaboration and continuous growth, creating a space where everyone can contribute their best to our common goals.
We work together at our iconic Manchester United offices, enabling connection and innovation as we look ahead to what we can achieve as a global football club. We are excited to bring in passionate people who share our vision and drive for success.

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a YouTube expert to manage the club’s official YouTube channel and develop our overall strategy around content, publishing, analysis, content management system admin and monetisation. Working alongside content leads, you’ll manage channel planning, optimisation, and working with a team of internal content creators to take the channel to the next level—delivering compelling, fan-focused video content that drives engagement, grows our subscriber base, and deepens global fan connection through one of the club’s most powerful platforms.

You will be responsible for:

  • Monitor performance analytics to inform future content decisions and optimise channel growth
  • Optimise the MUFC YouTube channel for maximum performance across audience growth, watch time and other key metrics
  • Utilise the full suite of tools available to constantly drive performance across the channel, for example AB testing, multi language, etc
  • Alongside a wider content team, lead the planning, production, and publishing of high-quality video content for Manchester United’s YouTube channel.
  • In collaboration with other creative teams, develop original formats, series, and storytelling concepts tailored for the YouTube audience.
  • Collaborate closely with the social, editorial, and wider media teams to align video output with campaigns and club moments.
  • Influence and educate creative teams on YouTube specific content methodologies
  • Input on shoots, interviews, and live content, including matchday, behind-the-scenes, and player-focused features for YouTube specific requirements.
  • Ensure all content meets brand and platform standards.
  • Stay on top of YouTube trends, fan behavior, and sports content innovations to keep United’s content fresh and competitive.
  • Create close ties with YouTube and constantly explore opportunities to grow Manchester United’s audience growth and commercial objectives.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential:
  • Proven experience managing a YouTube channel and producing content, ideally for a major brand, publisher, or sports club
  • Strong understanding of video production, including scripting, shooting, directing, and editing (hands-on or via team leadership)
  • Deep knowledge of YouTube best practices, content strategy, and analytics
  • Passion for football, with a strong sense of Manchester United’s voice, tone, and global fan base
  • Familiarity with YouTube CMS and SEO strategies
  • Willingness to work around a football calendar, including weekends and evenings
  • Strong football knowledge, particularly of Manchester United
Desirable:
  • Experience working in live environments and with high-profile talent
  • Understanding of rights usage and platform-specific content guidelines
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects) or equivalent tools
  • Self-shooting capability using production cameras and mobile devices
