Job summary

Professionals working in front of house functions at MREH will often be the first people our patients meet so clear communication skills, attentiveness and a calming presence are all essential attributes in these roles.

Professionals working in this discipline may be confronted with many different situations so must have the ability to handle surprises and manage potentially difficult situations. Front of house staff will have the patience to listen carefully to patients, who may be apprehensive or frustrated about their appointment or condition, to work out how they can help them.

Front of house professionals will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team that could include doctors,nursesand allied health professionals. This includes communicating regularly with patient’s relatives and loved ones to provide updates as a point of liaison , facilitating the attendance of patients, updating the Hive system , answering and responding to phone calls in a professional and timely manner.

 

Main duties of the job

  • DNA predictor calls
  • Greeting patients attending their outpatient appointment
  • Checking patients in on the Hive system
  • Booking less than 6 week follow up appointments for all patients attending clinic
  • Answering phone calls and email queries
  • Complete end of day cashing up process
  • Arrange return patient transport

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Computer literate/ IT trained
  • GCSE level 4 or above or equivalent requirement

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 in a related subject e.g. healthcare administration
  • PAS training

Experience/Skills

Essential

  • Previous experience within an Administrative or Clerical role
  • Experience of working in a team environment
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Able to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
  • Organisation & prioritisation skills
  • Good basis numeracy and literacy skills

Desirable

  • Knowledge of hospital environments/ routines
  • Knowledge of requirements of patients
  • Evidence of liaising with more than one discipline
