Transport for Greater Manchester is leading the delivery of the Bee Network, creating an integrated public transport system that puts passengers first. As part of our Bus Services Directorate, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Bus Performance Manager to help manage the performance of Greater Manchester’s franchised bus network, work closely with franchisees, and drive continuous improvement so services are delivered reliably and efficiently for customers across the city-region.

Your Role

As Bus Performance Manager, you will play a key role in monitoring and improving the performance of Greater Manchester’s franchised bus network, working closely with franchisees and internal teams to support reliable, efficient and customer-focused services.

You will monitor on-road, revenue and patronage performance, maintaining detailed route-level knowledge to identify underperformance and support action plans that drive improvement. You will also act as the main point of contact between TfGM and each franchise, helping to ensure performance issues are understood, addressed and followed through.

TfGM’s responsibilities in the delivery of bus services in Greater Manchester have undergone a period of significant change, and this role will play a prominent part in supporting the service delivery of franchised operations. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the continued development of the Bee Network and support improvements for customers across Greater Manchester.

What you’ll bring

What you do and how you do it is important whatever type of role you work in at TfGM and even small behaviours and actions can have a really big impact. At TfGM, our behaviours bring to life our values of Deliver, Care and Adapt.

You will have significant experience in the public transport sector and a demonstrable ability to analyse KPIs, patronage and revenue data, using insight to formulate action plans that support strong service delivery and overall performance. Experience of replicating good quality performance would also be beneficial. You should possess a strong track record of engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders, as well as elected members. You will also have the ability to interpret complex contractual requirements and, ideally, experience of working on high-profile projects.

This is a permanent role with a salary of £61,586 – £69,319 per annum depending on skills and experience.
