About the role

Media Services, within Campus Technology Services, provides professional media production, audio-visual support, live event technical delivery, graphic design and specialist print services across the University.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Audio-Visual Support Technician to join the Media Services Audio-Visual Team within Campus Technology Services, Directorate of IT Services at The University of Manchester.
This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a dedicated team supporting audio-visual facilities, systems and live events across one of the UK’s leading universities. You will provide hands-on technical support for teaching spaces, AV-enabled areas and events, working with a broad range of technologies including audio systems, displays, control systems, video systems, signal routing and live streaming.

What you will do
• Provide first-line audio-visual support across central teaching spaces and other AV-enabled areas on campus.
• Install, maintain and configure a range of audio-visual technologies and facilities.
• Support live events in a variety of technical roles, including setup, sound, lighting, vision control, streaming and signal transmission.
• Work collaboratively with AV engineers, Media Services colleagues, wider Campus Technology Services teams and other Professional Services areas.
• Assist staff and students and with the effective use of AV equipment and systems.
• Deliver excellent customer service while responding to faults, resolving issues and escalating where required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and keep up to date with developments in professional AV technologies.

About you
You will have an HND or RQF Level 5 equivalent qualification in a technology or related discipline, or demonstrable knowledge and skills gained through relevant experience. You will be confident working with audio-visual and IT technologies, able to communicate clearly with a wide range of users, and committed to providing a high-quality, responsive support service.
Experience of supporting live events or delivering technical support in an educational environment would be advantageous, but just as important is your willingness to learn, develop and work collaboratively as part of a professional and supportive team.
