About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to establish and shape Supplier Relationship Management across one of the UK’s largest airport groups. As our new Supplier Relationship Manager, you’ll design, implement and embed MAG’s first Group-wide Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) framework, creating a consistent approach to how we engage with our most strategic suppliers across Manchester, London Stansted, East Midlands Airports and CAVU. Working across more than £500m of third-party spend, you’ll build strategic relationships with MAG’s most critical suppliers, helping unlock greater value beyond cost through innovation, operational resilience, sustainability and continuous improvement. This is a rare opportunity to influence how MAG works with its most important partners while developing governance and ways of working that will have a lasting impact across the Group. Reporting to the Head of Procurement Strategy & Enablement, you’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across Procurement, Legal, Finance, Risk, Sustainability and Operations, alongside members of the Executive Committee and senior supplier representatives. As this is a Group-wide role, you’ll regularly travel between MAG locations and supplier sites to build strong relationships, facilitate governance and support strategic supplier engagement. Initially an individual contributor role, there is significant opportunity to shape the capability and influence its future direction as the function matures.
Key Responsibilities include…
- Design and implement MAG’s Group-wide Supplier Relationship Management framework, including supplier segmentation, governance and performance management.
- Identify and prioritise MAG’s most strategic suppliers, establishing structured engagement models and governance arrangements.
- Lead supplier performance reviews, monitoring KPIs, service levels, risk, resilience and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build collaborative relationships with strategic suppliers that deliver innovation, sustainability, operational resilience and long-term commercial value.
- Identify, assess and mitigate supplier risks, helping protect business continuity across the Group.
- Act as the key point of coordination between Procurement, contract owners, business stakeholders and senior supplier representatives, ensuring consistent engagement across MAG.
- Develop SRM tools, templates, playbooks and best practice guidance while coaching colleagues across the business.
- Produce meaningful reporting and insight that supports senior stakeholders in making informed supplier and commercial decisions.
What Will Make You Successful
- You’ll have significant experience within procurement, commercial management or supplier relationship management, ideally gained within a complex organisation where stakeholder engagement, governance and commercial performance are business critical.
- You’ll have a strong understanding of Supplier Relationship Management principles, supplier segmentation and performance management, alongside the confidence to influence senior stakeholders and suppliers without direct authority.
- You’ll be comfortable balancing commercial priorities with operational resilience, risk management and long-term partnership development.
- We’re looking for someone who enjoys building trusted relationships, driving continuous improvement and using data and insight to support better decision-making.
- Experience working within a regulated, infrastructure or safety-critical environment would be advantageous, as would previous experience designing or embedding new procurement or commercial frameworks.
- Professional procurement or commercial qualifications are welcomed but equivalent experience is equally valued.
